Abstract

The study is devoted to evaluating effectiveness of HBO in treatment of patients with acute pyelonephritis. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy was used in a complex of conservative treatment, as well as in the postoperative period. The course of HBO consisted of 8–10 sessions in the chamber at a pressure of 2.0-2.4 atm, 60 minutes. The positive effect of HBO consists in a decrease of SIRS and MOF frequency, an increase in glomerular filtration rate and improvement of renal hemodynamics. The use of hyperbaric oxygenation is accompanied by a tendency to restore the immune status. In experiments on white laboratory rats with a model of acute pyelonephritis demonstrated that HBO helps reduce inflammation in the renal tissue.

Key words
